Abstract:
|
In this roundtable luncheon, I will share my experience on using Bayesian thinking and methods to solve complex problems in genetic and environmental epidemiology. We will also discuss their intersection: joint modeling of genetic and environmental data, including gene-environment interactions. In some problems the Bayesian route is natural, in some it is a mere computational strategy, and in some you are forcing yourself to be Bayesian as you pledged allegiance to the discipline at some point in your career. We will discuss examples of each, primarily from cancer epidemiology and air-pollution studies to foster a stimulating discussion. Difference of opinion and disagreement among the participants are highly expected and appreciated.
