Statistical methods and study designs can be patented. This could either impede or encourage their use. The Round Table is for ASA members who have either patented or have considered patenting their work and for users or potential users of patented statistical methods or designs. We will discuss whether patenting should be encouraged or discouraged and the practical and ethical consequences of patenting.
