Abstract:
|
Teaching data (aka examples) are highly sought by both students and educators. While simulated datasets are functional, they lack real context and the intricacies of actual data. With an overabundance of medical data, there should be an excess of examples. But how does one obtain proper permissions to use data for educational purposes? What does one have to consider in sharing teaching data? Currently, a limited number of resources featuring classroom-ready data are available. Statisticians hosting such sites are interviewed and their processes will be shared. Additionally, a survey of physician investigators' opinions regarding conditions upon which they would agree to share their data for educational purposes will be presented. This discussion is for those educators tired of using the same old textbook examples year after year and interested in generating their own or discovering newly available medical examples.
