Abstract:

The unit gamma and weighted power function distributions are considered as mixing distributions for modeling the overdispersed binomial data.In particular, the generalized linear models are considered for these data. The estimation of the parameters is discussed and the properties of the estimators are presented. As an illustration, the analysis of certain data, using the above models,is presented and the corresponding results are discussed. The comparison of the results obtained using our methodology with those based on the beta-binomial model, which is commonly used in such studies,is presented with related discussion.
