Abstract:

Item nonresponses are commonly encountered in complex surveys. However, it is also common that certain baseline auxiliary variables can be observed for all units in the sample. We propose a semiparametric fractional imputation method for handling item nonresponses. Our proposed strategy combines the strengths of conventional single imputation and multiple imputation methods, and is easy to implement with the number of variables involved is large, which is typically the case for large scale complex surveys. A general theoretical framework will be presented and results from a comprehensive simulation study will be reported.
