Author(s): Greg Piepel*+
Companies: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Address: PO Box 999, Richland, WA, 99352, United States
Keywords: Mixture experiment ; New methods ; Software ; Roundtable
Abstract:

A mixture experiment (ME) involves mixing components to form an end-product and measuring one or more responses, which depend on the proportions of the components and maybe other factors (e.g., total amount, process variables). Methods for ME design and analysis have been developed over 50 years. However, as in most areas of statistics, we still need new methods, extensions of previous methods, and recent methods implemented in commercial software. Roundtable participants should come prepared to briefly describe one or two ME capabilities they have experienced as "missing" or "inadequate" when solving real-world ME problems, and what (if any) workarounds they used. The opportunity for discussion and feedback from other participants should make this an interesting and useful roundtable. The "minutes" of the roundtable will be prepared and provided to software companies and interested ME researchers.
