Abstract:

Xenografts established in mice from patient tumors are promising models for study patient-specific tumorigenesis and drug testing, which is often prohibitive in patients. However, before xenografts can be used as a surrogate, the characteristics of the xenografts need to be thoroughly evaluated at every possible level to establish equivalence with the primary tumor. I will describe our effort in evaluating the equivalence between xenografts and primary tumors using brain tumor as an example based on the large amount of genomic and transcriptomic data in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database together with some other public and private xenograft data.
