Abstract:
|
This talk will introduce The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) - a growing data resource sponsored by the NCI and the NHGRI - from the statistician's perspective. The TCGA project goal is to improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. To that end they are collecting 500 tumor samples from each of twenty-five cancer types and analyzing them on multiple molecular high-throughput platforms, including sequencing. With much of the clinical and molecular data publicly available at three levels of pre-processing this resource is useful to applied and methodological statisticians alike. Available data types, data access, quick queries, and associated packaged analysis software will be described.
