Abstract:
|
The Bayesian approach to instrumental variable analysis hinges on a reparameterization of the joint distribution of a treatment and a response variable. We adapt this approach to new settings where the latent object of interest is something other than a causal relationship. Examples from linguistics and behavioral economics demonstrate this approach in the case where the inferential focus is intrinsically unobservable mental states.
