Abstract:

The North American Regional Climate Change Assessment Program (NARCCAP) is producing an ensemble of regional climate model output over North America by using the output from multiple global climate models as boundary conditions for multiple regional climate models. One aspect of this program is to explore and quantify the uncertainties in the ensemble that can be attributed to the different model combinations. In this talk, a subset of the model output in the NARCCAP ensemble will be examined and a statistical model accounting for the different sources of uncertainty presented. At the heart of this statistical model is a new approach for modeling the spatial dependence in the model output that is feasible for larger spatial datasets.
