Abstract:
|
With communication tools that allow us to use virtual meetings, to have telephone meetings almost anywhere, and to send information easily through email or, at worst, overnight delivery, the world of statistical consulting has changed. Increasingly we are contracting, performing work, and delivering analyses and reports without ever meeting with our clients face to face. It is easy to miss subtle cues that our clients do not understand what we are telling them or that we might have misunderstood some important aspect of the work. Misunderstanding can lead to rework, delay, and an unhappy relationship. Strategies and tools based on years of remote consulting experience and lots of misunderstandings are described.
