Abstract:
|
The University of Georgia offers an undergraduate Capstone Course to expose our graduating statistics majors to analysis of real life data. In addition, the course is part of the Writing Intensive Program at University of Georgia, where the aim is to incorporate writing as a learning tool into the course. This allows our Capstone Course to add the dimension of effective written communication in the discipline. This talk will cover the execution of the year long Capstone Course; the role of the Writing Intensive Program as it relates to the course; an assesment of the methods, assignments and evaluation practices; and my experience as both a student and as a current Writing Intensive Program Teaching Assistant for the Capstone Course.
