Winona State University has increasingly encouraged undergraduate research, and as a result, several programs on campus now include a research/capstone requirement. To meet the increase in demand for resources related to these types of requirements, the Department of Mathematics and Statistics created a Statistical Consulting Center on campus four years ago. A new course, Statistical Consulting and Communication, was also created at this time so that students who had successfully completed this course could be hired to provide additional support in staffing the center. This presentation will give an overview of our course in Statistical Consulting and Communication, including the student learning outcomes, topics covered throughout the semester, and a description of a typical day in the classroom. Specific examples of the types of projects our students have encountered and feedback from our students about this course will also be provided.
