Abstract:
|
The availability of genetic data and ultimately genome sequence data for all subjects in a mega cohort will provide a strong foundation for the extraction, interpretation and utilization of the clinical information embedded in their electronic health records. Accompanying this exciting development are some new statistical challenges, for example those related to the need to safeguard protected health information and the lack of randomization. Furthermore, the size of the data and the depth of the desired analysis will give rise to computational demands not easily met by even the most resourceful biostatistics centers. In this talk I will examine some of these challenges and will illustrate, by way of examples, the type of approaches suitable for tackling these challenges.
