Abstract:

In this talk, we present a new strategy to quantify social information and interference based on social structure, and the semi-parametric statistical model behind it. The ideas behind our methodology are rooted in information theory and compressed sensing. We develop an efficient and scalable inference algorithm to estimate the model's parameters given network samples. We then develop some theory to characterize the trade-off between complexity and accuracy of the proposed representation.
