Abstract:

Current available estimation methods for the Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) model require the random errors to be homoscedastic. A heteroscedastic AFT model is proposed to extend the traditional AFT model, making it possible to accommodate possible heteroscedastic random errors. The Local Buckley-James method is proposed for the estimation and inference about the heteroscedastic AFT model. Theoretical investigation and numerical studies are performed to establish the effectiveness of the proposed method.
