Abstract:

Assuming that the distribution of lifetime and repair time of a unit in a two unit cold standby system is bivariate exponential, measures of system performance such as system reliability, MTBF, point availability and steady state availability are obtained (Model I). Similarly, under the assumption that the distribution of the lifetimes of online unit and standby unit and the repair time of a failed unit in a two unit hot standby system is trivariate exponential, measures of system performance are obtained (Model II). For both the models, 100 (1-a) % asymptotic confidence limits for steady state availability of the system are obtained.
