Abstract:

We investigate the one- and multiple-sample nonparametric estimators proposed in the literature and extend them to a general situation with covariates. The proposed estimation method allows more complicated covariate effects on cure rate than that can be described by the existing cure models because covariate effects on the cure rate in the existing methods are largely modeled parametrically. We proved that the estimator from the proposed method is consistent and asymptotically normal. A simulation study was conducted to investigate the performance of the method. We also consider an application of the method to a real data set.
