Abstract:

The federal funding landscape for statistics will be discussed by key panelists from NSF and NIH, the primary funding agencies for statistical research. The objective of the session is to discuss opportunities and engage the broader statistics community on current issues related to funding of statistics research.

Dr. Pantula will discuss the current and future funding possibilities in mathematical sciences at NSF/DMS, including funding for individual PIs, interdisciplinary research, graduate fellowships, post-doctoral fellowships, and institutes. In addition, he will discuss the work related to Math Sciences 2025 project.

Dr. Dunn will present an overview of NIH funding process, with particular emphasis on current opportunities for biostatisticians. I She will discuss the current status and future outlook for statistical methodology grants at NCI, as well as NCI priorities in general.

Both panelists have a strong interest in listening to our communities regarding future directions in mathematical, statistical and computational sciences.
