Message from the Chair of the Advisory Committee on Continuing Education

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Advisory Council on Continuing Education (ACCE), and all American Statistical Association (ASA) members, I want to thank you for your interest in the ASA Continuing Education Program. We believe that continuing education is very important in the exchange and dissemination of statistical knowledge, and for the success we've seen in our field of statistics, in our contributions to many different fields, and in your success as statisticians.

According to the University Continuing Education Association (UCEA), employers have begun to recognize that money spent on training employees is more realistically an investment rather than a cost. A more skilled workforce results in increased economic productivity. So, organizational spending on workforce education and training is on an upward path. Continuing Education is a crucial part for many statisticians in their career development.

The mission of the ASA Advisory Committee on Continuing Education is

  1. to provide at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings an affordable, high-quality continuing education program of interest to a broad segment of the ASA membership;
  2. to provide similar continuing education presentations throughout the year in such numbers and at such locations as can be supported by the ASA membership; and
  3. to support efforts of other ASA entities to offer quality, affordable continuing education to their constituencies.

Contact the ASA Center for Statistics Education or one of the members of ACCE if you have any questions or suggestions at: rick@amstat.org.

Thank you for helping the American Statistical Association to meet the needs of its members through the Continuing Education Program.

Young Kim
