Some Multivariate Statistical Methods — Continuing Education Course
Instructor(s): William B. Smith, Lecot Inc./Texas A&M University, Dallas E. Johnson, Kansas State University
Many common uses of multivariate statistical methodologies have similar roots. This course will briefly overview of multivariate methods that includes data matrices and vectors, estimates of mean vectors and sample covariance and correlation matrices, statistical computing and outliers, multivariate data plotting methods and the singular value decompositions. Applications will be principal components analysis, factor analysis, correspondence analysis, and discriminant analysis. Additionally, the course will address canonical discriminant functions, the use logistic regression methods for discrimination rules, and logistic regression models. Examples and common computer packages will be used to illustrate the techniques.

Prerequisites: Applied Regression and Analysis of Variance Methods.

Helpful, but not required: Working knowledge with matrix algebra techniques.
