Abstract:

Administration of the survey was scheduled to begin in Haiti on June 7th and conclude on June 11th (prior to the submission of this abstract). Data to be collected include household composition, household location, and labor force characteristics (both current and immediately prior to the earthquake); various demographic data will also be collected. We will discuss the results of this survey and provide summary statistics and basic analyses for these results. We will consider the implications of these results for the Haitian people and for organizations that are providing aid in Haiti. Finally, we will also discuss what we have learned from our experiences in Haiti and the implications for future efforts under similar conditions.
