Abstract:

Significance is a unique statistical outreach magazine, originating with the Royal Statistical Society but now jointly published with the American Statistical Association also. It is written by statisticians for professional statisticians, but speaks in clear language to non-statisticians also. It covers all areas of science, of society, of life, where statistics has an application, and tries to convey the interest, as well as the importance, of the discipline. It is hoped that the new joint venture will allow the magazine to become a world-wide voice speaking for statistics to decision-makers and to the public at large.
