Abstract:

We will discuss issues of risk in the drug approval process, and in communicating the issues to the public. One of the common problems is the assumption by the public that all drugs submitted to the FDA are effective, so why is the FDA dragging its feet? Another problem arises when a small group is certain that a drug causes a certain side effect, but scientific evidence shows no such thing. The problem with Vaccines and Autism is a case in point. Participants in the roundtable will discuss these and other issues of interest.
