Abstract:

The Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a technology providing traffic engineering for QoS (Quality of Service), which requires offline computation to set up the Label Switched Paths (LSP's). There were three methods proposed compared to a conventional method deployed in the industry. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate these three proposed methods and a conventional method. A randomized complete block design is used in planning the simulations and the simulation results is analyzed with a mixed model including a fix factor and several random factors. Our analyses indicate that, with a statistically significant difference, one of the three proposed methods outperforms the others in terms of the performance metrics used in this project, which emphasize load balancing.
