Abstract:

Analysis of Variance is one of the most popular methods in QTL mapping but it is dependant on the model assumptions such as homoscedasticity and normality of the trait values. A standard solution to this problem is to use regression on ranks. Here we sidestep the issue of the correlation structure and the distribution of the quantitative trait values by treating them as the dependent variable and try to develop a method which will outperform traditional methods such as ANOVA and the Kruskal-Wallis Test (in the sense of asymptotic power).
