Abstract:

A control chart for monitoring an increase in a process proportion based on a generalized likelihood ratio (GLR) is considered here. The likelihood ratio statistic is calculated using a moving window of past observations. The performance of this chart is evaluated by the steady state average number of observations to signal (SSANOS) for sustained shifts in the proportion. Comparisons of this GLR chart to the Shewhart and binomial CUSUM charts are conducted. Simulations show that the overall performance of the GLR chart is at least as good as the other control charts.
