Abstract:

Different methylation platforms produce different types of data. For instance, methyl-sensitive restriction enzymes (MRE) sequencing is restricted to fixed positions in the genome, while methylated DNA immunoprecipitation (MeDIP) sequencing can take place anywhere in the genome. We report here on statistical methods for integrating data from different platforms. Our insight is to reframe the integration problem as a classification problem. We develop classification methods appropriate both to the technologies and to the underlying biology. We validate our methods on gold standard data.
