Abstract:

The analysis of means is a testing procedure for comparing a collection of means to see if any of them are significantly different from the overall mean. When the population variances are unknown and unequal, Dudewicz and Nelson (2003) proposed a design-oriented two-stage procedure for ANOM, which requires additional samples at the second stage. If obtaining more samples are not practical or feasible, we use the single-stage sampling procedure to test the null hypothesis in analysis of mean models with unequal variances in this study. The single-stage sampling procedure for analysis of means has an exact distribution and it is a data-analysis-oriented procedure. It does not required additional samples, and can reach a conclusion much easier and save time and budget.
