Keywords: Endocrine disrupting chemicals ; Reproductive hormones
Abstract:

Due to the involvement of hormones in many human biological processes, exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can pose numerous health risks. While general relationships between some of these chemicals and hormonal behavior have been established, the internal bodily mechanisms behind these relationships are less studied. It is of interest to analyze the relationships between a mixture of EDCs and hormones while accounting for bodily measurements. Data is utilized from participants of the 2001-2002 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Linear regression methods and logistic regression methods are used to assess the relationship between a mixture of EDCs and FSH and LH. Covariates include factors such as menopausal status, age, gender, etc. Hormone concentrations are modeled as both continuous and categorical responses.
