Abstract:

We consider a study in children with renal disease and implement a generalized estimating equation (GEE) and quasi-least squares (QLS) approach to demonstrate that the choice of working correlation structure to describe the pattern of association amongst the repeated measurements on the children can have an impact on the results. We compare several approaches for selection of a working correlation structure for GEE and QLS that have been proposed in the literature, via simulation and comparison of the analysis results for each structure.
