Abstract:

Affymetrix GeneChip® arrays are widely used to measure expression levels of thousands of genes simultaneously, particularly to measure relative expression levels between different experimental conditions. Most common Affymetrix arrays utilize the whole genome of individual species and usually have tens of thousand genes/probesets on the arrays. In some circumstance, it is desirable to design a customized focus array to detect a specific pathway or biological process with a small set of genes. In this presentation, we share our experiences designing and normalizing such customized Affymetrix arrays from a statistical aspect.
