Address: Institute for Scientific Computing, Vienna, A 1010, AUSTRIA
Keywords: Register based statistics ; Quality assesment
Abstract:

Making efficient use of already existing administrative information is one of the main goals in many national statistical offices. Due to the fact that such data are captured not for statistical purposes, a number of adaptations and alignment procedures are necessary in order to meet statistical quality requirements. In this presentation we report about two projects in this direction in Austria. The first one is preparatory work for a register based census in 2011 and the second one is usage of administrative health data for health statistics. We discuss these projects in a framework of a statistical workflow model, which looks at statistical data processing from two different perspectives: (i) A data perspective which describes how the different statistical methods are applied in the production process; (ii) A metadata perspective which controls the workflow.
