Abstract:

This talk will introduce the Bayesian empirical orthogonal method (BEOF) after exploring the flaw in the usual implementation of the empirical orthogonal functions to capture the main spatial pattern over a given geographical region. We comapre the BEOF with the usual EOFs in two simulation studies in spatio-temporal processes and verify the improvement of this new method.
