Abstract:

Statistics instructors are increasingly using Java applets to illustrate statistics concepts to students. There are hundreds of applets available on the web, but locating a quality applet to serve a particular purpose may be time consuming. The STAT-ATTIC website/database is presented as a tool for locating statistics applets. It contains links to approximately 600 applets on topics commonly taught in introductory courses, including graphical displays, descriptive statistics, probability concepts, random variables, sampling, confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, regression, ANOVA and chi-square tests. Users can browse by topic and, within each topic, what they wish to illustrate. For each applet, the name, source, link and description are shown. The site performs a limited search function and allows feedback and ratings on individual applets.
