Abstract:

The mixture cure rate model postulates a fraction of units or subjects to be cured or failure-free. An alternative formulation of the cure rate is provided by the bounded cumulative hazard model. We develop Bayesian models that unify the competing risks and cure rate approaches. We compare the performances of the two cure rate approaches and illustrate them in a detailed application.
