Abstract:

In a recent article Blomquist and colleagues (Cancer Res 2009;69:(22) 8629-35) demonstrate the use of the spread of data for transcript expression levels as means of differentiation between lung cancer cases and controls. We discuss their approach and examine the usefulness of a direct measure of variability.
