Abstract:

The objective of this study is to identify the intelligence profile of epilepsy patients for job placement purposes using cluster analysis. A psychometric test was used to measure eight types of intelligence on 166 patients. Three clusters emerged: General Cognitive, Agility and Logical Thought skills. The majority of the patients were strong in their interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences. Verbal and Interpersonal Skills were found to be the most correlated with the other intelligences while music was the least correlated. The results indicated that: slightly more than half with at least three types of intelligences were employed; some has careers which required a lower academic qualification; and slightly less than forty percent were holding jobs that match their type of intelligence. The results provide a better understanding on this group's chances for employment.
