Twelve faculty at institutions from across the United States are participating in the second CAUSE Research Cluster mentoring program. The twelve participants were formed into three collaborative research groups that consist of four participants and two or three mentors from the CAUSE Research Advisory Board (RAB). The common goal of each group is to design and initiate a collaborative research project related to how students learn statistics during the two-year program. This talk will present Research Cluster participants' perspectives on the challenges and rewards of participating in the mentoring program. The challenges of communicating across large distances and various solutions used by each group will be discussed. The Research Cluster participants' perspectives on the benefits of the mentoring program, how the experience has affected their teaching of statistics will be presented.
