Abstract:

Zero-inflated continuous distributions ( with a positive probability mass at zero) can often be used as models in medical, environmental and financial research. We are introducing estimators of the classical measures of association, Kendall's tau and Spearman's rho, appropriate for the zero-inflated distributions. Asymptotic distributions of statistics will be shown, and performance of the estimators will be discussed based on results of a Monte Carlo simulation study. New ideas are illustrated by a real data example.
