Abstract:

In this presentation, we will describe the implementation and the teacher/student reception to a "Strategic Initiatives" grant funded by the ASA Biometrics section. The overall objective and motivation of the grant was to continue our commitment to raising awareness of the discipline of biostatistics and career opportunities to Arkansas high school students involved in the Advanced Placement (AP) Statistics program. This was done primarily by developing a website of teaching resources for high school statistics teachers, organizing a high school poster and project competition for Arkansas high school students, and providing an ASA K-12 membership for every Arkansas high school offering AP Statistics. Details of the website development and poster competition will be presented as well as the respective student and teacher reception to each.
