Abstract: Interesting classroom activities are useful in motivating students and enhancing their learning. Unusual events such as Blue Moons or birthdays on February 29 afford opportunities for activities that help to develop the student's quantitative reasoning. Activities based on an extension of the commonly used "birthday problem" to specific birthday date and the occurrence of Blue Moons are provided which could be used to stimulate students while enhancing their educational experience.
