Abstract:

Panelists in this session discussed the experiences and benefits of selected collaborations with academic and industry experts on cutting-edge statistical and survey research topics involving the federal statistical community. Three of the four panelists (Mark Harris, Stephen B. Cohen, and Andrew A. White representing NASS, BLS/ASA/SMRS, and NCES respectively) discussed examples involving collaborations facilitated through the National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS). The fourth panelist (Lynda Carlson, NCF/SRS) discussed additional collaborative mechanisms and experiences.
