Abstract:
|
The patient year method has been widely used in epidemiology. Recently the approach was applied to drug eluting stent trials and several papers were published in journal of American college of cardiology1 (JACC) and circulation: cardiovascular intenvention2 (AHA). We will use the exact patient year approach to assess clinical outcomes in a drug eluting stent trial and compare the annualized hazard rate with life table approach. The drug eluting stent trial data will be used to demonstrate the difference of the two approaches. A proposed statistical testing methodology will be explored for each method.
