Abstract:

The study-level meta-analysis is essential in most systematic reviews. In meta-analysis, the pooling methodology of aggregate outcomes from several studies is based on pre-specified mathematical formula. However, many criticisms have been discussed in medicine research field. There were limited drug eluting stent study publications regarding the rare event of interest. Common concerns with meta-analysis are mainly the publication bias in terms of insufficient number of qualified publications and the increase of study heterogeneity due to inappropriate imputation of zero events. In addition, other common issues in the practices will be discussed.
