Title: Does a Hybrid Regression Provide the Optimal Prediction Equation?

Stepwise and hierarchical linear regressions are combined to create a hybrid form of regression. When creating the optimal prediction equation in terms of effect size, it can be problematic when several variables together may increase the effect size however any one of them alone does not. In such a situation, hybrid regression is recommended. The hybrid regression is stepwise within a block of variables and hierarchical between blocks. Hybrid regression's supposed usefulness is in combining the strengths of stepwise and hierarchical regressions for obtaining the best prediction equation. This study explores through simulation several scenarios to examine whether hybrid regression is capable of identifying the optimal solution in terms of effect size. Further, I explore the utility of hybrid regression in predicting employee turnover at a large organization.
