Abstract:

Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve has become a popular diagnostic tool in medical science. A popular model in ROC study is given by the binormal model. However, in complicated medical practice, the true disease status might not be observed. Under the setting of partial gold standard for the truth, the rational to use ROC curve is to allow the true disease status as unknown. In this paper, we propose an estimation method of ROC curve under binormality assumption with the partial gold standard when diagnostic measurement is continuous. By applying informative prior on the hyperparameters, Bayesian approach can provide us more useful results under this circumstance.
