Abstract:

Novel exploratory graphical summaries of longitudinal concomitant medication (CM) data collected in clinical trials are presented. Concomitant medications are all medications taken by patients other than study drug. I also propose using an established statistical and graphical method, the Mean Cumulative Function (MCF), to display and prepare statistical tests of the longitudinal patterns. The MCF accounts for censoring due to patient drop out. These longitudinal graphical displays contrast to the common "incidence style" summary of CM data. Incidence style summaries essentially ignore longitudinal features of the data. Potential uses include data cleaning during an on-going clinical trial or comparing longitudinal patterns between treatment groups in randomized clinical trials.
