Abstract:

Statistics is taken by more students across various disciplines and colleges than almost any other subject. There is, therefore, staffing demands for these courses to be taught by those with varying experience, both academic and practical, in statistics. Using the Survey of Attitudes Toward Statistics (SATS), we examine various instructor characteristics' impacts on students' attitudes toward statistics. This analysis incorporates hierarchical linear models (HLMs) to examine the difference in SATS scores based on instructor characteristics.
