Abstract:

Over the past 20 year, the federal statistical system has expanded to include many measures of child well-being and the emergence of the Federal Forum on Child and Family Statistics has highlighted many of the key measures through their annual report on Americas Children. The experience in the United States is echoed in many countries around the world and in international agencies like UNICEF and OECD. This session will highlight some of the key data now available from federal statistical agencies regarding the well-being of Ameican Children and provide some thoughts about next steps toward developing even better/more information on child well-being in the U.S.
